That’s why we’ve created this list of the Best Laptops Under 700 so that you can get great value for your money.

Buying Guide – How to choose the Best Laptop Under 700?

These purchasing guides can help you find the best laptops within your budget, whether it’s $700 or less. While price is important to consider when buying a laptop, there are other factors to keep in mind as well.

A little bit more RAM but a slower Hard Drive, a better Graphics Card but slower CPU processing power, 13 inches and portable or 17 inches for a desktop replacement that can’t be moved easily.

We know that trying to make sense of all the data out there on laptops under $700 can be overwhelming, especially if you’re not a tech expert. But don’t worry, we’re here to help. Here’s what you should look for in a great laptop under $700, according to our experts at Tech+ News.

Price: One of the most important factors to consider when buying a laptop is how much you’re willing to spend. Laptops under 700 dollars offer great value, but there are also some excellent options in the higher price range. So, be sure to set a budget before you start shopping.

Processor: The processor is the brain of the laptop and is responsible for its overall speed. You’ll want to look for a model with a good CPU, such as an Intel Core i5 or equivalent Ryzen processor.

Graphics: A good graphics card is important for gaming or watching HD movies. However, at this price range you can’t really expect a lot of power like you can find in a gaming laptop. You will be able to watch HD movies and run somewhat new games at low to medium settings just fine but you might need to forget about watching on 4K or setting any game at “Ultra”.

Display: The display is another important factor to consider when choosing a laptop. Look for one with a high resolution (at least 1920×1080) and good color reproduction.

Storage: A laptop with a large hard drive is ideal if you plan on storing a lot of data on it. You’ll want at least 500GB of storage space, but 1TB or more is even better.

RAM: Another important factor to consider is how much RAM your laptop has. Look for one with 8GB or more, especially if you plan on using multiple programs at the same time. The more, the better, though you might also factor in the RAM’s frequency (higher frequency RAM might beat bigger RAMs

Despite all its great features, this beautiful laptop suffers one of the most common problems in the industry right now: Over promise in marketing descriptions. Let me explain:

The laptop’s battery life is advertised to last up to 14 hours when brand new and under minimal usage. That’s impressive if it was true. However, in reality, our brand new laptop, just straight out from the case and under a fully loaded battery only lasted around 9 hours of very low usage browsing and editing a document.

Lenovo Flex 5 14″ Full HD 2-in-1 Touchscreen Laptop, AMD Ryzen 7 5700U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD

9Tech+ Score
Amazing All-Around Laptop
The most powerful laptop in this list, the Lenovo Flex 5 is everything you need for writing, browsing, programming and some lightweight design in a very portable format. You wo’t find a better performing Ultrabook in the $800 range. Plug it into a big screen and you also have a wonderful desktop replacement.
PROS
  • Very powerful AMD Ryzen 7 5700U gets you running almost anything.
  • Nice Screen
  • 16GB of RAM is great for the price.
  • Super Portable
CONS
  • Battery Life could be better
  • A bit heavy for 1 hand note-taking on tablet mode

Overview

The Lenovo Flex 5 is a great laptop that offers efficient performance and a lot of features. It’s powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor and comes with Windows 11 Home pre-installed. The 14″ touchscreen display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and is perfect for browsing the web, watching movies, and working on design projects. The 360 degree hinge allows you to use it in different modes depending on your needs. The Lenovo Flex 5 also comes with 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a backlit keyboard.

The 14-inch Ultrabook contains a number of features that include a rigid frame, great trackpad, 720p webcam with privacy lens, and speakers that sound good for being cased inside the device.

You also get a good keyboard, Lenovo’s reliable FN+Q 3 mode Quiet, Battery Saver, and Turbo hotkey capabilities.

While I do love this laptop I will admit that it’s not perfect because, after all, we’re talking about a laptop under 700.

On this model, the advertised 10-hour battery life actually only lasts for 7 to 7.5 hours with moderate use.

The second thing to keep in mind is the screen. Even though it’s a 1080p 60hz Touchscreen IPS, and looks nice with responsive touch, it doesn’t get very bright. It does support HDR playback; however, the screen itself is not HDR and only reaches 250 nits for brightness.

The wireless card that come standard with this laptop is wifi 5, but it’s swappable for a wifi 6e card. You might also want to pick up the optional charger because the one that comes with the laptop uses its only USB-C port while the optional charger plugs into a charging port.

There are two memory slots, but only one M.2 slot, so upgrading the main storage would require cloning and swapping the hard drive.

All in all I think this is a great laptop and I’m looking forward to using is for many years to come.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 – 12.4″ Touchscreen – Intel Core i5 8GB Memory – 256 SSD

7.5Expert Score
The best laptop under 700 in a nutshell
This tiny laptop is such a wonderful piece of hardware. Those looking for maximum portability and nice power balance will find in it the best laptop under 700. That is, if you can overlook the screen and build size.
PROS
  • Small and light
  • Good performance for its size
  • Well-built and high quality
CONS
  • Shorter battery life than other laptops
  • No backlit keyboard
  • Limited resolution
  • Limited RAM upgrade capacity

Overview

I’ve never found many Windows-based PCs that compare to the pleasure of the now defunct and wonderful 12″ Apple Macbook, except for Microsoft Surface Go laptops.

It performs shockingly well for what it is and, in many ways, outperforms its predecessors. It’s fast enough to run most contemporary games at 720p or 30 frames per second on average.

Although this laptop is small and light, there are a few necessary sacrifices that were made to achieve its size. These include a shorter battery life at only 6-7 hours maximum, no backlit keyboard, and limitations on the display’s resolution (just barely above 720p). The RAM is also limited with a 8GB maximum storage upgradeability.

Although it has the same non-backlit keyboard and low res display, this piece of hardware is just as high quality as its predecessor. It also boasts a level of fit and finish that you don’t see often in laptops at this price point. In fact, it’s been engineered with the same attention to detail as Microsoft’s Surface devices, which are much more expensive..

In conclusion, this laptop isn’t for everyone. Those in the market looking for a functional PC with all the bells and whistles but are constrained by size will find that there aren’t many options available at this price range. Microsoft did their due diligence on what needed to be improved with this model and supplied a decent performing laptop comparative to its competitors.
